Jazz at George IV - An evening with Antonio Forcione & Adriano Adewale

Audiences are always guaranteed a powerful show of wit, personality and musical virtuosity with guitar maestro Antonio Forcione. An artist in every sense of the word, Antonio is hailed as one of the most charismatic, unconventional guitarists at large in the musical world today.

With a host of international awards under his belt, and 20 albums released to date, this eclectic composer never ceases to stun his audience on stage, leading him to be referred to as the ‘Jimie Hendrix of the acoustic guitar”.

Antonio’s playing breaks the mould of most conventional guitar sounds, be it in the field of jazz, Spanish, African, Brazilian or improvised music, his performances encompassing a ferocious virtuosity, passion and humour. He has shared the stage and recorded with some of the world’s most accomplished musicians including Charlie Haden, Angelique Kidjo, Larry Coryell, Diego el Cigala and many more as well as supporting giants such as Phil Collins, Bobby McFerrin, Zucchero and Van Morrison amongst others.

Joining Antonio in this special show is the master percussionist and composer Adriano Adawele. Their 2019 album Joy, which they made together with Kora player Seckou Keita won World Music Awards Best Album.

Adriano has also developed a career that transcends borders and genres. Rooted in the music of his home country Brazil and with a profound connection to World music traditions, Adriano has become a celebrated figure in the global music scene.

His percussive prowess encompasses an array of instruments, from the traditional pandeiro to the mesmerizing sounds of tuned PVC tubes, crafting a unique sonic palette that defies convention, his musical journey marked by collaboration and exploration.

His compositions are a tapestry of diverse influences, blending samba's infectious rhythms, the improvisational spirit of jazz, and haunting beautiful melodies. Adriano has been featured in over 30 albums and collaborated with Benjamim Taubkin, Joanna McGregor among many others.
