Allan Jones' rock'n'roll war stories, book launch event
From 17 May 23 7:00 PM to 17 May 23 10:00 PM
Allan Jones, former editor of Melody Maker and Uncut magazine, launches his second collection of stories from the golden age of rock'n'roll, featuring Lou Reed, Elton John, Sting and The Clash and many others.
'Too Late to Stop Now' is the highly anticipated follow-up to Allan's first collection, 2017's 'Can't Stand Up for Falling Down', which was Sunday Times' Music Book of the Year.
Allan's career in the music press spanned a golden age, when rock and pop were full of larger-than-life characters only too happy to take music writers along for the ride on the tour bus - giving them access not just to iconic shows around the world but to long nights of booze, bad behaviour and unguarded conversations, too. Allan will be sharing some of the stories he printed over the years (and some he couldn't/didn't) in conversation with regular Chiswick Talk host Duncan Steer.
