Jazz at George IV - The Cosimo Matassa Project

From 02 May 24 7:30 PM to 02 May 24 10:30 PM

This exciting mix of R&B and soul jazz with a touch of the Mambos was born out of respect for the artists who passed through the studio doors of the legendary producer Cosimo Matassa.

At the core of the band are pianist and arranger Al ‘Dente’ Dunn (Loudon Wainright, Boomtown Rats) and singer and double bassist Dai Price (Dai & The Ramblers). They are joined by top London musicians, the celebrated saxophonist Damian Hand (Allen Toussaint, Van Morrison) and top drummer Jonathan Lee, (James Hunter).

“The lynchpin is Price’s mellow, dulcet-toned voice, an instrument capable of dark forcefulness and languid tenderness, conjuring up the mercurial spirit of a young, full-throated Alex Chiltern……” – Songlines Magazine.

Paying homage to the Rhythm and Blues that emerged from New Orleans in the late 40’s & early 50’s the band will be playing songs from that era by artists such as Fats Domino, Big Joe Turner, Allen Toussaint and Lee Dorsey as well as exploring lesser-known gems by the likes of Smiley Lewis, Dave Bartholomew and Tammi Lynn together with some original tunes of their own.

Chiswick Calendar Club Card holders are offered a £2 discount on tickets.
You can order meals, bar snacks and drinks in the Boston Room, before and during the performance. Doors open 7.00 pm. Performance starts 7.30 pm
