The much-celebrated vocalist, pianist and master entertainer Diz ‘Honeybear’ Watson brings his superb 6-piece band over to the Boston Room as part of a series of shows following the release of his new album, ‘Diz-Connected’, his first for some time.

“Diz Watson is the guv’nor when it comes to boogie woogie piano, he’s spent more then half a century singing funky blues ….. he mixes original compositions with the songs he loves … a potent celebration of music and life …..” - Garth Cartwright (The Guardian). Over the years Diz has worked with the likes of Dr John, Alexis Korner, Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry and Lee Allen and opened for the Rolling Stones on their 1982 World tour.

Diz blends his exuberant mix of New Orleans style Rhythm and Blues and swinging boogie woogie encompassing the music of Fats Domino, Champion Jack Dupree, Professor Longhair and Big Jay McNeely all the way down the line to Cousin Joe Pleasant together with his own quirky and often amusing original compositions.

Diz’s current Doormen lineup features the acclaimed Finnish guitarist Jo’ Buddy, noted bassist Matt Radford (Nick Lowe, The Panasonics), top drummer Jono Lee, (James Hunter, The Mississippi Swamp Dogs) together with the outstanding horn section of ‘The Two Nicks’, Nick Payn, (Bill Ryman’s Rhythm Kings, Paul Young) and Nick Pentelow, (Andy Fairweather Lowe, Wizard). Whenever Diz and the Doormen take the stage you are guaranteed a joyous musical gumbo of a night.

“Diz rocks the house every time ….he is a bona fide British blues legend …..” – Errol Linton – Blues Man of The Year.
